Anatomy of a candle

Candles 101

Four numbers, one picture

Every candle is four prices: where it opened, the highest it reached, the lowest it reached, and where it closed. The thick body spans open to close. The thin lines above and below are wicks, marking ground price touched but could not hold.

Check yourself

A candle opens $50, hits $58, drops to $48, closes $55. The body spans…

  1. 48 → 58
  2. 50 → 55 correct
  3. 55 → 58

Body = open to close. The rest is wick: visited, rejected territory.
