Order blocks meet premium and discount

Order Blocks & Premium/Discount

Location changes the quality

An order block sitting inside the discount zone of a range is a stronger long setup than the same order block sitting in premium. Location within the range adds or subtracts from the setup's quality.

Stacking three layers of confluence

The full ICT-style stack layers three things: a bias from structure, an entry zone from an order block or FVG, then a location check against premium or discount.

Premium isn't automatically wrong

An order block sitting in premium during an uptrend isn't automatically a bad long, but it's a lower-quality one, worth smaller size or a pass in favor of waiting for a discount entry instead.

Check yourself

A bullish order block located inside the discount zone of the range is…

  1. A higher-quality long setup than the same block in premium correct
  2. A weaker setup than one in premium
  3. Unaffected by its location in the range

The same zone gets a quality boost simply from sitting in the cheaper, buy-favored half of the range.
