Refined order block entries

Order Blocks & Premium/Discount

Zooming into the candle

Instead of using the whole order block candle's range, some traders zoom into that single candle and use only its body, or the wick from a specific sub-move, for a tighter, more precise entry.

Tighter stop, lower fill odds

A tighter refined entry means a smaller stop-loss, which means a better risk-to-reward ratio if the trade works, at the cost of a lower chance the exact zone gets tagged.

Matters most on smaller timeframes

Refined entries work best on lower timeframes where precision matters more. On higher timeframes, the wider zone is often traded as-is since the moves involved are already so much bigger.

A refined order block entry uses…

  1. A tighter zone within the full order block, not the whole range correct
  2. A much wider zone than the full order block
  3. A completely different candle from a different day

It narrows the zone down from the full candle range to a smaller, more specific slice.
