Telling BOS and CHoCH apart
Market Structure Mastery
Same break, different meaning
The exact same-looking break can be a BOS or a CHoCH. The only thing that decides which is the trend already in place before the break. Context is everything, the break itself looks identical.
The roles flip in a downtrend
In an uptrend, breaking above a high is BOS, continuation. Breaking below a low is CHoCH, reversal warning. In a downtrend those two roles simply flip.
Always check the bigger timeframe
A CHoCH on a small timeframe can just be a normal pullback on a bigger timeframe. Always check the higher timeframe trend before treating a small break as a real reversal.
