Old highs & lows as magnets

Liquidity & Stop Hunts

Untapped liquidity doesn't expire

A high from three months ago that's never been revisited still has real stops resting above it. Time doesn't erase liquidity. Only a visit does. Old, untouched levels are often the most powerful magnets on the chart.

Zoom out to find the real magnets

The most powerful untapped levels often live on the daily or weekly chart, invisible on a 5-minute view. Before trading a small intraday level, check whether a much bigger old level is looming just beyond it.

Once tapped, a level's pull resets

The first time price sweeps an old high or low, that specific pool is gone. The stops that were there got filled. A level doesn't keep pulling price back again and again just because it mattered once.

Check yourself

A swing high from four months ago has never been touched since. Compared to a high from three days ago, its pull on price is…

  1. Still fully intact, untouched liquidity doesn't decay with time correct
  2. Weaker, it's too old to matter
  3. Exactly zero

Only a visit clears resting orders. Age alone doesn't expire a stop sitting on the book.
