The weekly rhythm

Sessions & Killzones

Weeks have a shape too

Monday and Tuesday often set the week's range, midweek tends to carry the strongest trending moves, and Friday, especially an NFP Friday, often sees positioning unwind.

Wrapping up ahead of the chop

On a week with a major NFP release or a month-end transition, some traders aim to have core positioning wrapped up by Wednesday, ahead of the added chop those events tend to bring.

An unclear week is still information

A week with no clear directional read by midweek is itself useful information. Sitting on your hands through a genuinely unclear week is a valid, professional decision, not a wasted one.

Check yourself

In a typical weekly rhythm, the early days of the week tend to…

  1. Help set the range for the rest of the week correct
  2. Always produce the single largest move of the week
  3. Have no relationship to the days that follow

Monday and Tuesday commonly establish the boundaries that the rest of the week reacts to.
